Azerbaijan
is one of the ancient states in the East. The area is 86000 km2 and population
is more than 8 million.
On May 18, 1918 Azerbaijan declared independence as the
Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The ADR was the first democratic Republic in the
East.
On April 27, 1920 the newly established Azerbaijan Democratic
Republic was occupied by the Soviet army and finally, on October 18, 1991
restored its independence. At present Azerbaijan is on the way to democratic
development.
Oil and gas resources are the main natural resources of the
Azerbaijan Republic. The well-known companies like BP, Exxon Mobil, and Chevron
function in Azerbaijan. Historical “Silk Road” passes through the territory of
Azerbaijan and combines Europe with Asia. Azerbaijan is situated at the
crossroads of Europe and Asia and considered the door of the East.

On the 25th of December, in 2009 the Ceremony will be held at Baku Business University for the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis and for the coming of the New – 2010th year. Concerning to these holidays will be held university championship on different types of sports – volleyball, table - tennis, basketball, foothall, draught, and chess |
Creative programs and sport competitions (on volleyball, basketball, table-tennis, chess, draughts, judo, karate, and arm wrestling) are planned to be held at the University on the occasion of December 31, the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and New Year |
From December 29, 2007 till January 25, 2008 winter exam session will be held at the University |
On November 12–24, 2007 testing exams will be taken at the University for all courses |
The joyful and witty team of the University named “Young Businessmen” will participate at the Republic Championship among higher-educational institutions on the basis of a joint project with “New Bakunians” club on “Space” channel |
